On Thursday, September 29, 2011, the 2011 Seven Tiki Pro surf tournament was held at the the Jacksonville Beach Pier in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Karina Petroni (23 years old), a resident of Atlantic Beach, Florida, won 1st Place in the Presidente Light Women's Pro competition. After her win and the presentation of her 1st Place winnings, Miller on Sports interviewed her. Petroni, who is sponsored by Salt Life, shared her love for surfing, stating: "The beauty of surfing is just having a good time, and I will continue to surf as long as God gives me the health." Petroni's mother is from a town just north of Bergen, Norway, so Petroni referred to her "Viking blood" as inspiring her to challenge herself in the surf. Petroni regularly surfs in the Bahamas as well to perfect her surfing skills.
