University of Florida's Lee Humphrey Interview With Miller On Sports

Watch Richard's interview with Lee Humphrey below.

Host Richard Miller interviewed Lee Humphrey on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at the Bob Hayes Sports Complex and Legends Center in Jacksonville, Florida, where the Jacksonville Giants ABA basketball team is holding scrimmages to prepare for Season 2, which starts December 2nd.

Originally from Maryville, Tennessee, Humphrey received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he played for Coach Billy Donovan from 2003-07.  Among the many lessons learned under Coach Donovan, Humphrey learned "to live for the moment, stay in the present, focus on how to improve, and move and learn from there."

In addition to establishing UF's record for most 3-point field goals in a career (288) and most 3-point field goals in a season (113 in 2005-06) and (113 in 2006-07),  Humphrey started on the 2006 and 2007 National Championship team.

Since graduating from the University of Florida, he has played basketball overseas in Poland, Greece, and Germany (for 3 years).  When playing basketball overseas, Humphrey has enjoyed "embracing" the other cultures and experiencing their cuisine.  He would like to play overseas for another five to ten years and is currently awaiting a position overseas.  While Humphrey awaits his next opportunity, the Jacksonville Giants (under Head Coach Kevin Waters and Team Owner Ron Sholes), have invited him to workout and practice with the team.  For Humphrey, this too is an opportunity to focus on how he can improve his game.

  1. My family and I have enjoyed watching and enthusiastically rooting for Lee's amazing three-pointers in clutch situations throughout his College career. My son and daughter have been fellow Maryville High athletes (son-QB on 2010 MHS 6A football State Champ team, duaghter-MHS tennis). Thank you Lee for being an excellent inspiration and role model throughout. We are big fans. [The Canfields]
