Special thanks to UF & Shands Jacksonville for supporting the Giants. Dr. Nigel Sparks, M.D., is the Giants orthopedic surgeon.
J.T. (born 1987 in Jacksonville) received a scholarship to attend Episcopal High School, and while at Episcopal, he received many awards and recognition, including the Episcopal High School Foundation Award for Excellence of Character and the Best Athlete of the Episcopal High School Class of 2005.
In 2008, while playing football for Episcopal, he suffered a spinal cord injury. However, despite his injury, J.T. has made incredible strides. At a special ceremony in 2009, J.T.'s football and basketball jerseys were retired for his contributions when he played in the positions of wide receiver on the football team and forward on the basketball team. J.T., a college student at the University of North Florida, is majoring in sports management. As a fan of the Jacksonville Giants and Miller on Sports, J.T. was seated on the floor next to the Giants players to cheer them to another victory in Game 3 of Season 2. Special thanks to the Christian Laettner Basketball Academy for sponsoring the attendance of the family and friends of J.T.
