INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTIAN LAETTNER

LAETTNER IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING 2011 BUZZER BEATER

Former Duke Standout, NBA Star, and Olympic "Dream Team" Gold Medalist Christian Laettner just signed with the Fort Wayne, Indiana, NBA Development League Team, Mad Ants.  Laettner will become Assistant Coach under Head Coach Steve Gansey.   In a statement released by the team, Laettner said, "I am thrilled to be joining the Mad Ants organization.  The opportunity to work closely with developing players to improve their game and help them make it to the next level has always been a goal of mine."

Laettner is best known for his 1992 buzzer beater, which is considered the number one basketball shot in NCAA history.  "After all these years, that shot is still the topic of discussion.  I love to watch college basketball.  March Madness is still my favorite time of the year."

Laettner, currently living in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, most recently was playing in his number 32 jersey for the ABA Jacksonville Giants in Jacksonville, Florida.  Laettner commented:  "I acted as a player, coach, mentor, and even television color commentator alongside Richard Miller (MilleronSports.com), play by play host for the Giants.  The Giants team has a terrific lineup of talent, and I was proud to be associated with them.  Though my knees are not fully capable of the shots and blocks from the past, I was involved in the team's first buzzer beater during the season opener, December 3, 2011.  Only this time, I was in the position of Grant Hill (think Duke-Kentucky) inbounding the ball.  I will miss the Giants; however, I still plan to see a game or two when I am in town.  I continue to be a big supporter of the Giants as well as Miller on Sports."
