THE CIRCUS IS IN TOWN

A CROWD WATCHES THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH

Did you know that an elephant can have up to 150,000 muscles in its trunk or that Asian elephants can drink 30-50 gallons of water on a daily basis, depending on the weather?  There is so much to learn and see at the circus, and it's in town this weekend.  It may not be termed a sporting event, but it certainly showcases incredible acrobatic and gymnastic feats.  Opening night of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus was Thursday night, January 19th at the Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.  Children and adults from throughout Jacksonville and our surrounding communities flooded the downtown area to see the animals and spectacular acts.

This year, Ringling Bros. presents "Dragons" in a must-see family event that centers upon dragon tribes displaying their perfected talents in a single performance.  The tribes perform in dramatic surroundings to prove to the spectators that they possess such virtues as courage, strength, wisdom, and heart.  There is no match to "The Greatest Show on Earth," bringing your family, friends, and neighbors together for excitement and entertainment.  Where else can you see elephants, horses, tigers, gymnastic and acrobatic acts, domestic feline performers, clowns, and much more.  The circus will run through the weekend (January 20-22, 2012).   Visit www.ringling.com for performance times and the tour schedule.
