Host Richard Miller

At 26 years old, Sports Writer, Radio Talk Host and TV Announcer Richard Miller delivers the most up to the minute sports analysis in the city every weekday from  4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on AM 1600 WZNZ in Jacksonville, Florida.

During the ABA Basketball Season (December - March), Richard provides the Jacksonville Giants LIVE television play-by-play for all home games on CW17.  As part of the show, Richard conducts pre-game, half-time, and post-game interviews of the players and coaches.  You can see him and his co-host sitting courtside in the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

Richard originally joined the Giants as the play-by-play radio announcer; however, by game 6, Team Owner Ron Sholes promoted him to lead television host.  Sholes commented: “Immediately after meeting Richard, I realized he had talent well beyond his age.  I enthusiastically sponsored his radio show and soon discovered that he had the knowledge and energy to become part of the Giants franchise.  I am eager to watch his talents grow with the team.”

MILLER WITH LAETTNER
With his true passion being radio broadcasting, Richard continues to host “Miller on Sports” from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. weekdays on 1600 AM WZNZ.  As the nation’s youngest sports talk radio host, Richard covers the full array of regional, national and international sports topics. While Richard feels most comfortable wearing headphones and speaking into a microphone, he also finds time for surfing, disc golf, tennis, basketball, and traveling to other locales for professional sports entertainment.  The usually humble Richard boasts that he has visited nearly every professional sporting venue in the nation.

As a Jacksonville native, Richard attended local schools:  Bishop Kenny High School and the University of North Florida.  At UNF, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications and graduated with honors.  While attending UNF, he produced his own unique sports talk radio show for two and a half years and gained over 200 hours of radio experience.  In stints with two other local sports talk radio stations, Richard helped produce numerous top-rated sports talk shows.

MILLER WITH GIANTS' JERMAINE BELL
In 2009, he became the Sports Columnist for The Jacksonville Observer.  Several of his intriguing stories have been ranked number one in the sports category by Google News search engine.  For the past two seasons, Richard has covered the Jacksonville Jaguars for Sporting News Radio LIVE from the press box at Everbank Stadium. In his spare time, since 2009, Richard has been collaborating with well-known local sports talk radio personality and legend David Lamm, compiling stories that will eventually culminate into Lamm's autobiography.

When Richard takes a day off from work (that he is very reluctant to call "work" since he truly enjoys his job), you can usually find him at Atlantic Beach surfing the waves, regardless of the water temperature.  The ocean is where he relaxes and recharges.

TRACY COLLINS WITH RICHARD

Calling His First Buzzer Beater - December 3, 2011

On December 3, 2011,  Richard had the unique experience that few television broadcasters have in a lifetime - he called a last second buzzer beater made by the Jacksonville Giants basketball team.  What made this moment even more surreal was that Duke Standout and NBA Great Christian Laettner participated in the play.  Read more about the shot that occurred in Laettner's first professional start in six years and watch the video at: http://www.milleronsports.com/2011/12/christian-laettners-2011-jacksonville.html
